the cow in the cemetery

Photobucket

my siblings and i decided to stop at the riverdale cemetery to visit our grandma hart's grave. she passed away last spring (so yes, both grandmas passed away this summer) and we wanted to see her headstone. just as we were driving into the cemetery this cow casually saunters down the hill and strolls right into the cemetery ahead of us. he ended up being the main attraction of the show, especially since once we approached my grandma's grave there was no headstone! it was straight up missing in action. we looked around but no headstone. my mom didn't believe us when we told her. she insisted that she had seen it there last time she was in town. we insisted that it wasn't there when we hunted for it. only a fresh grave, no headstone. my mom went to see for herself the next day. lo and behold, the headstone was in the cemetery but on the wrong grave!! can you believe that?? good thing we checked! those poor souls could have been mis-marked forever.

at first we just watched the cow from afar

as it grazed and grazed and ate flowers off of people's graves

it finally came over to check us out

and we finally went over to check it out
and then it put on a real show for us

and the kids were truly captivated

then darek thought he'd be real funny

but it was john who finally manned up and braved a feeding

all during the cow fiasco, and whilst we searched about for grandma's grave,
the kids just played and played and thought the cemetery was the greatest playground ever

beck loved this little pinwheel grave decor
