Little BFFs

So the other day my sister Kirstin was telling a story. Her daughter Ali (Darek's BFF pictured above) entered the room, with Darek in tow, only to be told by her mother (as the story was not fit for little ears) to please leave the room while "we're having an adult talk" to which she replied in a desperate, disheartened plea, "But Darek's in here!"

Tell me, what does this say about Darek? That he too is but a child too sensitive for adult talk? What do you think?

Things have been busy and I haven't had access to the internet much so poor bloggy has been put on hold, but we are having a great time. darek has been working during the days and spending his evenings with friends and family and especially loving playing Guitar Hero with Dov. I tagged along with Amy for a few days in Provo as I was carless and dependent on her charity to drive me around. We went swimming at Jen's new pool and of course I got a splochy sunburn since I did not adequately apply sunblock evenly. I visisted Leah and met cute little Lucy and couldn't believe how tiny and precious she is! Then I got a quick little tutorial from Leah on how to use the manuel settings on my new camera and followed her around copying her while she took pictures of the kids. The above photo of Ethan (Amy D.'s little boy) and I is courtesy of Leah. Thanks frients for hanging out with me in Provo!

And the real Roper family reunion is about to begin and rage through the weekend! Can't wait!

I'm so sneaky!

Let it be known that I am the sneakiest little sneak there is! I'm not talking about sneaking into a movie here (which I would never do, PS, because I CTR!) I'm not even talking about sneaking a piece of chocolate off my co-workers desk (which I DO do, because that is CTR-ing!) I'm talking about sneaking a million miles across these United States of this good country of Amercia and surprising my family! Ha ha! "But wasn't this trip planned?" you say? Oh yes, you're right. The trip to UT was planned...but not the part where I arrived FIVE days early to surprise the bageezees out of everyone! Yeah! That's what us sneaky sneaks do! So you Utahns - let's hang out!

Cori was right! It was indeed OUR boyfriend Mr. Darcy who said the beautiful quote listed on my handy side bar! I pretend like he was saying it to me while he looks longingly across the room at me as seen below. He's DREAMY! I took the Jane Austen quiz to find out which character of her's I am and as soon as I saw that I wasn't Elizabeth Bennett I ignored the results and pretended like some mistake had been made! I didn't even read which character I was because if I can't be Lizzy I won't be anybody! Plus I'd never heard of whatever character it was...

So sweet dreams all. May Mr. Darcy visit you all tonight!
PS ~ Next trivia question: Do you know Mr. Darcy's first name? It makes him even hotter!

Like the HAPPIEST!

I had the happiest surprise ever yesterday! As you can see I had an unexpected and oh-so-welcome visit from K Dub! I was dilly dallying around the courtyard after church being chitty chatty with my fellow ward members when suddenly time slowed down, all sound became muffled as the crowd parted and miraculousy there she was! And angel sent from heaven!

She and her cute hubby were on a less-then-24-hour trip to Boston this weekend and got a little lost driving through Cambridge and happen to be passing our chapel just as I was walking out. Which was pretty amazing because our chapel isn't a chapel at all but a renovated boiler factory so she wasn't even sure it was a Mormon church, but you know, a Mormon can smell a Mormon a mile away and she caught my scent! It was the happiest reunion. Like tears and screaming happy! I also got to tag along on the family brunch yesterday afternoon and felt so excited and blessed to get to hang out with Kamilah! It was such a treat! Thanks frient for the breath of fresh air!

Confessions of a closet country music listener
NOTE: I said listener, not fan. Fan is way too much of a commitment!

So I confess, I've dabbled. What can I say? I like to think that under my mature adult facade I'm still the California punk rock girl in Dickies and a studded belt that I've always been. But main stream music has gotten kind of lame (save Green Day and Blink, of course) and all the same songs are played on the radio 100 times a day and they all drive me crazy. I've been forced to seek musical fulfillment elsewhere, though I can't say difinitively that country music is the answer. However amongst the tender and sentimental music I have discovered a pattern of cheesy lyrics that make me laugh every time.

This week while listening to a lovey dovey song (no clue who the artist is) I couldn't help but laugh at this cowboy's attempt to whoo his young lass by telling her, "I want to take you out under the moonlight, I want to kiss you in the sticks, I want to something something and something else, I WANT TO CHECK YOU FOR TICKS!!!!!!!!!!!" I can think of nothing less romantic then my boyfriend checking me for TICKS! Sick!

So I also laughed when some other lover boy sang, "I need you like a blah blah and I need you like a blah blah and I need you like a NEEDLE needs a VEIN!" Seriously, I want you to need me, little cowboy, but please keep your love for me separate from your love for heroine!

But I admit there are some cute tender songs too. Are any of you closet country music listeners? I would love to not feel alone in this predicament!

WARNING: Be careful what you ask for!

So in response to all the requests to post more pictures on the blog I've obliged your desires with this gem! I mean could I make an uglier face? (The answer to that question is a resounding YES, by the way! If you really beg I may indulge your gluttony with some REAL scary photos!) Serioulsy Amberli, have a little dignity! I like to think that it demonstrates an impressive amount of self-confidence to post such a fearful sight for all to see, but it might in actuality simply be shameless self-abuse! I challenge you all to fearlessly post your most frightful sights on your blogs and join the frightful sight club!

So I'm hanging in there husbandless. I even washed the silverware tonight (least favorite chore) instead of letting it collect until Friday to welcome Darek home this weekend. Such a thoughtful wife, I am. (Said the Yoda-ized wife)
Also I would just like to send out a little love to my awesome sister-in-law Sharla who is headed to England tomorrow to serve as a stellar missionary and bring those Brits the happiness of the gospel. We are all so proud of her and I must admit I have a little twinge of homesickness for the mission. There is just no other time of life like the mission. (I'll save you from my reminiscing).
So this is an older picture from last summer but I wanted you all to see the lovely face of the current McCoy Family Missionary (a title all the McCoy kids have carried at some point.) Good luck Shars! We'll miss you!

I hope you all have an enjoyable, worry-free day tomorrow. Because, "Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday." ~ Dale Carnegie

Sweet dreams and all that jazz...

Let the moping begin...

So Derelique left for UT this afternoon. He is working there all month but he will be home next weekend to hang out with me and then I'll be joining him for a few days at the end of the month so that means I have 17 days of moping around the house in front of me. I have a long to do list to accomplish while he's out of town and so far I've been able to mark off "take a nap" and "mope around."

So we had a fun weekend. Darek was the best and took me on a little summer clothing shopping spree date on Friday night, no doubt because he was tired of hearing me complain about my sad wardrobe. I felt so inpired by the shopping that I cleaned out my closet and took TWO trash bags of clothes to Good Will on Saturday. I know this is a lame picture but the blog has been a little pictureless of late, which I am trying to remedy.

Saturday night we got together with friends and played...wait for it..."Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot." To our friends' dismay Darek and I had beginners luck and now we're not sure they'll be wanting to play games with us again anytime soon. The title of the game is so random, and actually the game itself is totally random, but it was fun!
Sadly I didn't get out with the new camera to take photos yet. Hopefully this week!
I hope you all had a great weekend!

The new look

So I've been fiddling around with this thing to come up with a new look for our blog. What do you think? I'll probably still make some changes but I guess this is what it will look like for now!
